Common questions
Is Seville or Valencia cheaper?
They are almost the same. Our mid-range estimate is about €165 per person per day in Seville and €163 in Valencia, a difference you will not notice. What changes costs more is timing: Seville during Holy Week or the April Fair, and Valencia during Las Fallas in March, see hotel prices jump sharply. Outside those weeks, both are reasonable for Spanish cities.
Which is better in summer?
Valencia. Seville in July averages around 38°C and often goes higher, so locals stay indoors in the afternoon. Valencia peaks around 31°C, with sea breezes and a city beach. If you must visit Seville in summer, sightsee early, rest in the afternoon and eat late, as Sevillanos do.
Can I go to the beach from Seville?
Not within the city. The nearest beaches are on the Huelva or Cádiz coasts, roughly an hour or more by car. Valencia has Malvarrosa and Las Arenas beaches reachable by tram or bus from the centre, which is a big advantage for families and summer travellers.
How do I travel between Seville and Valencia?
Flying is quickest, about 1 h 10 in the air plus airport time. By train, expect around 4 h; direct services are limited, so many trips change at Madrid. Driving takes about 6 to 7 hours. Check current timetables, as direct train frequencies change by season.
