Is Lefkada expensive? What things really cost in 2026
Short answer
Lefkada is good value for a Greek island: cheaper than the Cyclades and similar to Kefalonia, with prices well below most of Western Europe. Plan on about €85 a day per person on a budget, €165 mid-range and €330 for comfort in high season. Rooms, a rental car and boat trips take most of the money, while tavernas and beaches are affordable.

Where the money goes
Rooms are the biggest cost, especially on the west coast near Kathisma and Agios Nikitas, and in the week around 15 August, when prices peak; Greece also adds a per-room climate resilience fee each night. Transport is the second cost, because the best beaches are spread along a long coast road and buses are limited, so most visitors hire a car or scooter. Boat days from Nydri or Vasiliki, sunbeds and fresh fish add more. Everyday taverna food stays reasonably priced.
When it is cheaper
May, June and September are clearly cheaper than late July and August, with room and car prices often well below the peak. Many businesses close from November to April.
How to spend less
- Stay in Lefkada town, where rooms are cheapest and buses leave for the beaches.
- Swim on the west coast in the morning and move to the calmer east coast when the afternoon wind rises.
- Join a shared day cruise from Nydri rather than hiring a private speedboat.
- Bring your own umbrella to avoid sunbed charges at organised beaches.
- Book your rental car early for July and August.
- Ask the price per kilo before ordering fish.
