Where to sleep for less
The Centro Histórico has most of the hostels and simple hotels, close to the cathedral and light rail Line 3, with doubles around MX$600–1,100 and dorm beds lower. Colonia Americana has a few hostels in a livelier area for food and nightlife.
Getting around cheaply
Walk the centre and use Mi Tren (about MX$10–12) and buses. Uber and DiDi rides in the city usually cost MX$60–150. From the airport, a ride-share or authorised taxi is about MX$350–550; share it to save. To Tequila, take a bus from the Nueva Central Camionera.
