In Prague, budget travellers stay in Žižkov or Holešovice, 10–15 minutes by tram from the Old Town, for about 1,200–2,200 Kč a room; hostels are cheaper. Brno and Český Krumlov have cheaper guesthouses.
Getting around cheaply
Use trains and coaches between towns and public transport in Prague (about 30 Kč for 30 minutes, 40 Kč for 90 minutes). From the airport, bus 59 to Nádraží Veleslavín metro is the cheapest option.
