Agra or Delhi? An honest comparison
The short answer
Pick Agra for the Taj Mahal, Agra Fort and the Mughal tombs: one or two days is enough for most people. Pick Delhi for a huge capital with several Mughal monuments, Old Delhi's street food and more to fill a longer stay. Delhi is cheaper on the mid-range numbers (about 5,800 rupees per person per day against 7,000 in Agra).
Agra: suits couples, families and first-timers who want to see the Taj Mahal properly, ideally at sunrise.
Delhi: suits first-timers, solo travellers and friends who want history, markets and street food in a big city.
