Best time to visit Agra: month by month
Short answer
October to March is the best time: highs fall from about 32°C in October to 19–22°C in December and January, with almost no rain. December and January can bring thick morning fog that hides the Taj and delays trains. April to June is extremely hot (about 38–39°C in the data, often above 40°C), and July to September is the monsoon.

Events worth planning around
- Taj Mahotsav, a crafts, food and culture festival at Shilpgram near the Taj (usually in February)
- Holi (February or March, depending on the lunar calendar), celebrated especially intensely in nearby Mathura and Vrindavan
- Diwali (October or November, depending on the lunar calendar)
- Night viewing of the Taj on the five nights around each full moon, except Fridays and during Ramadan
When to avoid
Avoid May and June if you can, when the heat makes midday sightseeing very hard. Whatever the month, do not plan the Taj Mahal for a Friday, when it is closed.
