Why visit Negril?

Negril is a beach town at the western tip of Jamaica, spread across the parishes of Westmoreland and Hanover. It is divided between a long sandy beach to the north and rocky limestone cliffs to the south, known as the West End. The town is known for its relaxed atmosphere and some of the best sunsets on the island.

Seven Mile Beach is the main attraction, lined with small hotels, beach bars and water sports. Along the West End, people swim and snorkel directly from the cliffs, and Rick's Café is famous for cliff jumping at sunset. The Negril Lighthouse stands at the westernmost point of Jamaica. Boat trips go to Booby Cay, a small island off the northern end of the beach. Inland, the Royal Palm Reserve protects part of the Great Morass wetland and its birdlife. Mayfield Falls, in the hills of Westmoreland, can be explored on a guided river walk. Food stalls and restaurants serve jerk chicken, fried fish and patties. Reggae music is part of evening life along the beach.
