Why visit Ocho Rios?

Ocho Rios is a resort town on the north coast of Jamaica, in the parish of St. Ann. Once a fishing village, it is now a major cruise port and one of the island's main tourist centres. It is surrounded by rivers, waterfalls and green hills.

Dunn's River Falls is the best-known attraction, where visitors climb the terraced waterfall in guided groups. Mystic Mountain offers a chairlift through the rainforest and a bobsled ride inspired by Jamaica's Olympic team. Fern Gully is a former riverbed road lined with tall tree ferns, just south of town. The Blue Hole, also called Island Gully Falls, has natural pools for swimming and rope swings. Nine Mile, in the hills of St. Ann, is the birthplace and resting place of Bob Marley. To the east, Firefly was the hilltop home of the playwright Noël Coward, with wide views over the coast. To the west, the Green Grotto Caves near Discovery Bay are open for guided tours. Try ackee and saltfish, Jamaica's national dish.
