Is Milos expensive? What things really cost in 2026
Short answer
Milos is mid-priced for the Cyclades: cheaper than Santorini and Mykonos but no longer a budget island in July and August, when rooms and car hire become scarce. A budget traveller needs about €100 a day, mid-range about €200 and comfort about €495 per person. Rooms, car or quad hire and the Kleftiko boat trip take most of the money.

Where the money goes
Accommodation is the main cost, from Adamas rooms at €60–110 a double to Pollonia and Plaka boutique hotels at €300–700 in summer, plus Greece's per-room climate resilience fee. A car or quad is almost essential for beaches beyond the bus network, and prices rise sharply in August. The full-day boat trip to Kleftiko is the big one-off expense, while tavernas are fair value outside the most popular sunset spots.
When it is cheaper
Late May, early June and late September to mid-October are noticeably cheaper than August, often by a third or more for rooms and cars. From November to April much of the island closes.
How to spend less
- Stay in Adamas, the port, for the cheapest rooms and buses to Plaka, Pollonia and beaches.
- Book car or quad hire weeks ahead for July and August, when prices jump and fleets run out.
- Compare Kleftiko trips: half-day or smaller-boat options can cost less than full-day cruises.
- Eat in Plaka and Adamas side streets rather than at sunset-view terraces.
- Use KTEL buses to Sarakiniko and the main beaches.
- Visit in June or September for warm sea and lower prices.
