Is Bodrum expensive? What things really cost in 2026
Short answer
Bodrum is one of Turkey's most expensive resorts. A budget day in high season costs about ₺3,500 per person and a mid-range day about ₺7,600, more than in Antalya, Fethiye or inland Turkey. The town itself and the dolmuş buses are fair value; the money goes on beach clubs, fish by the kilo, taxis and the smart north-coast bays such as Göltürkbükü and Yalıkavak.

Where the money goes
Accommodation and eating out take most of the budget. In July and August, a pension in Bodrum town's back streets costs ₺2,500-4,500 a night, while the boutique hotels of Gümüşlük and Yalıkavak and the resorts of Göltürkbükü quickly reach ₺15,000-45,000. Fish is priced by weight and can double a dinner bill, and beach-club loungers, drinks and taxis (Bodrum to Yalıkavak ₺900-1,300) add up. Lira prices also rise fast with inflation, which is why many hotels and boats now quote in euros.
When it is cheaper
Prices drop noticeably in late May, June and from mid-September to October, often by a quarter or more on rooms compared with July and August; from November to April many beach clubs, boats and hotels close, so what is open is cheap but limited.
How to spend less
- Use the dolmuş from the otogar (₺50-90) instead of taxis; they reach every village every 10-30 minutes in summer.
- Ask the price per kilo and see your fish weighed before it is cooked.
- Swim from the free public stretches of Bitez and Ortakent instead of paying for a lounger.
- Choose a day boat that names its stops and check whether drinks are included; often only water is.
- Eat in the back streets behind Kumbahçe or in local lokantas rather than on the harbour front.
- Take the Havaş airport bus (about 45 minutes) instead of a taxi from Milas-Bodrum Airport.
