Is Bled expensive? What things really cost in 2026
Short answer
Bled is moderately priced: cheaper than Alpine resorts in Austria or Switzerland, but one of the dearer places in Slovenia, noticeably more expensive than Ljubljana for rooms. A realistic budget day from May to September is about €90 per person, mid-range about €180, and the money goes mostly on lakeside rooms, the boat to the island and paid sights.

Where the money goes
Accommodation is the largest cost, especially rooms facing the lake, which run about €140–250 a night in summer; simple rooms and apartments in town are about €60–110. Sights add up quickly because each is paid separately: the pletna boat, the island church, the castle, Vintgar Gorge and, if you go to Bohinj, the Vogel cable car (about €25–30) together come to well over €80 per person. Food is fair by Western European standards, with lunch menus around €12–15 and gostilna meals about €18–28 per person. Bled also adds a tourist tax of a few euros per person per night.
When it is cheaper
Rooms are usually cheaper in spring and late autumn than in July and August, often noticeably so; in winter prices fall further, apart from December with its Advent season, but Vintgar Gorge is closed.
How to spend less
- Rent a rowing boat by the hour (about €20–30 for the boat) and row to the island yourself if you are two or more.
- Walk the 6 km lake loop and climb to Ojstrica and Mala Osojnica, which cost nothing and give the best views.
- Choose a lunch menu in town (about €12–15) and keep the gostilna dinner for one evening.
- Take the bus from Ljubljana (about €7) rather than a taxi or private transfer.
- Stay in Bled town or in Mlino or Zasip rather than in a lakefront hotel.
- Swim at the free spots around the shore instead of the paid bathing areas.
