Best time to visit Paxos: month by month
Short answer
Late May, June and September are the best months, with average highs of about 20–25°C, a warm sea and easier ferry space. July and August are the warmest (about 27–28°C) and busiest, with full harbours and higher prices, while from November to April many places close and rain is frequent.

Spring (Mar–May)
Cool and green, about 14–16°C in March and April, rising to about 20°C in May with only around 5 rainy days; many hotels and tavernas open from around Easter or May.
Summer (Jun–Aug)
Warm and dry, about 24°C in June and 27–28°C in July and August, with 1–2 rainy days a month; the busiest time, with yachts filling the harbours.
Autumn (Sep–Nov)
September is about 25°C and excellent for swimming; October (about 22°C) gets wetter, and November has about 18 rainy days.
Winter (Dec–Feb)
Mild but wet, about 14–16°C by day, with up to 19 rainy days in January; most places close and boats depend on the weather.
Events worth planning around
- Feast of the Panagia (15 August), when boats carry people to the monastery on Panagia islet and Gaios celebrates late into the night
- Greek Orthodox Easter (March, April or May, date varies)
When to avoid
Avoid early to mid-August if you dislike crowds and high prices, especially around 15 August when rooms must be booked far ahead. Avoid November to April if you want open tavernas and reliable boats.
