Is Paxos expensive? What things really cost in 2026
Short answer
Paxos is on the expensive side for a small Greek island: pricier than the Greek mainland and similar to the smarter parts of Corfu, because almost everything arrives by boat and the island draws yachts and villa holidays. A realistic budget day is about €85 per person, mid-range about €175, and the money goes on rooms, taverna dinners and boats.

Where the money goes
Accommodation is the biggest cost: rooms above Gaios start around €60–100, harbour hotels and apartments in Gaios, Lakka and Loggos are €100–200, and the villas in the olive groves €200–500. Food and drink cost more than on the mainland because supplies come by boat, and fish and lobster by the kilo can push a dinner bill up quickly. Boats are the third big item, whether a round-island trip, the Antipaxos shuttle or a rented motorboat with fuel. Getting there also adds a fast boat from Corfu or a ferry from Igoumenitsa. Greece adds a per-room, per-night climate resilience fee, higher from April to October.
When it is cheaper
Late May, June and September are usually noticeably cheaper than July and August, when yachts fill the harbours and rooms are at their peak; from November to April many hotels and tavernas close.
How to spend less
- Stay in rooms above Gaios rather than on the harbour front for lower prices.
- Use the bus between Gaios, Loggos and Lakka instead of taxis where timetables allow.
- Share a motorboat between four or more people; it then costs less per head than separate boat tours.
- Ask the price of fish by the kilo before ordering.
- Take an early shuttle to Antipaxos and bring a picnic as well as water.
- Book ferries from Corfu in advance in July and August, when boats fill up.
