Season by season
Spring (Mar–May)
Highs rise from about 11°C in March and April to 15°C in May, with 11–13 rainy days. St Patrick's Festival in mid-March is the busiest and priciest week of the spring.
Summer (Jun–Aug)
Highs of about 18–20°C and lows of 12–13°C, with daylight until about 22:00 in June. The busiest season for visitors and hotel prices, and still 11–13 rainy days a month.
Autumn (Sep–Nov)
September stays pleasant at about 18°C, October drops to about 15°C and is the wettest month in the data (about 19 rainy days), and November is about 11°C. Crowds and prices ease after September.
Winter (Dec–Feb)
Mild but damp and dark: highs of about 8–10°C, lows of 4–5°C and short days, with 12–16 rainy days a month. Hotels are cheaper outside the Christmas period, and pubs and theatres are at their cosiest.
Events worth planning around
- St Patrick's Festival and parade, around 17 March
- Bloomsday, celebrating James Joyce's Ulysses, 16 June
- Dublin Theatre Festival, late September to October
- Dublin Marathon, the last Sunday of October
When to avoid
If you are on a budget, avoid St Patrick's week, July and August and big match or concert weekends, when room prices peak. If you want the best chance of drier days, avoid October and December, the wettest months in the data.
