Season by season
Spring (Mar–May)
March is still pleasant at about 29°C, but April (32°C) and May (36°C) get hot fast. Good for beach days and indoor sights; desert trips become hard by May.
Summer (Jun–Aug)
Highs of 39–41°C with night lows around 30–32°C and high humidity. Hotels are cheapest and life moves indoors to malls, museums and theme parks.
Autumn (Sep–Nov)
September is still about 39°C, October cools to 35°C and November to a comfortable 31°C. From November the outdoor season starts again.
Winter (Dec–Feb)
Highs of 23–27°C, lows of 17–20°C and only a couple of rainy days a month. Ideal for the Corniche, beaches and the desert, but peak season for prices.
Events worth planning around
- Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, Formula 1 season finale at Yas Marina (late November or early December)
- UAE National Day, 2 December, with fireworks and celebrations
- Sheikh Zayed Festival at Al Wathba (roughly November to March)
- Ramadan (dates move about 11 days earlier each year): quieter days, lively evenings
When to avoid
Avoid June to September unless you plan to stay mostly indoors, as daytime heat often exceeds 40°C. The Grand Prix weekend is the most expensive time for hotels, especially on Yas Island.
