They are nearly identical. Our mid-range estimate is about €162 per person per day in Lisbon and €165 in Seville. Lisbon lunch menus are good value, and Seville tapas are cheap. Seville prices jump during Holy Week and the April Fair.
Which is better in summer?
Lisbon. Seville averages around 38°C in July, often higher, while Lisbon peaks around 29°C with sea breezes. If visiting in summer, Lisbon is more comfortable, and its beaches at Cascais are a train ride away. Seville is best in spring or autumn, when afternoons are warm rather than punishing.
When is the best time to visit?
Seville is best from February to May and in October and November; spring brings orange blossom, Holy Week and the April Fair, with higher prices. Lisbon is pleasant from March to November. Winter is mild in both, around 14 to 16°C, which makes either a good off-season city break.
How do I travel between Lisbon and Seville?
Buses take about 6 to 7 hours and are the usual public-transport option. Driving takes about 4 h 30 through the Alentejo, and a car also lets you stop in Évora. Direct flights are limited, and there is no direct train, so check current options before you book.
