Common questions
Is Corfu or Mykonos cheaper?
Corfu, by a wide margin. Mid-range daily costs are about €175 per person in Corfu against €325 in Mykonos, almost double. Mykonos hotels, beach-club sunbeds and cocktails are among the most expensive in Greece. Corfu offers good tavernas and rooms at fair prices, especially outside August.
How do I get from Corfu to Mykonos?
There's no direct ferry, since the islands are on opposite sides of Greece. Fly from Corfu to Athens in about an hour, then on to Mykonos in about 40 minutes, or take a ferry from Piraeus or Rafina, roughly 2 h 30 to 5 hours depending on the boat. Check current timetables.
Which is better for families?
Corfu. It has calm, shallow beaches on the east coast, family-friendly resorts and short drives, and prices are far lower. Mykonos's beaches are beautiful, but the island is built around nightlife and beach clubs, and everything costs more. Families who want the Cyclades often prefer Naxos or Paros.
Is Mykonos worth it outside the party season?
In May, June, September and October Mykonos is calmer and cheaper, and Chora, Little Venice and Delos are easier to enjoy. Many beach clubs and restaurants close from late October to April. Corfu stays more lived-in year-round, with a real town population.
