Why visit Tobago?

Tobago is the smaller of the two main islands of Trinidad and Tobago, in the southern Caribbean. Its capital is Scarborough, and the island has a quieter, more rural character than Trinidad. It is known for coral reefs, forested hills and a relaxed pace of life.

The Main Ridge Forest Reserve, protected since 1776, is one of the oldest legally protected forests in the world and is popular for birdwatching. Glass-bottom boats from Pigeon Point and Store Bay visit Buccoo Reef and the Nylon Pool, a shallow sandbar in the middle of the sea. Pigeon Point, with its thatched jetty, is the island's best-known beach. Fort King George, above Scarborough, offers views over the coast and a small museum. Argyle Falls is a multi-level waterfall reached by a short forest walk. From Speyside, boats cross to Little Tobago, a seabird sanctuary, and divers explore the reefs nearby. Englishman's Bay is a quiet, undeveloped beach on the north coast. Try crab and dumpling, a well-known Tobago dish.
