Why visit Koh Lipe?

Koh Lipe is a tiny island in the far south of Thailand's Andaman Sea, inside Tarutao National Marine Park and close to the border with Malaysia. It has white sand, very clear water and coral reefs a short swim from the beach, and no cars, only footpaths and motorbikes.

Sunrise Beach is long and soft, Pattaya Beach is the main landing beach with restaurants and bars, and Sunset Beach is the quiet spot for the evening. Walking Street, a pedestrian lane across the island, has cafes, massage shops and seafood grills. Longtail boat tours visit the neighbouring islands of Koh Adang, Koh Rawi and Koh Hin Ngam with its striped stones, with snorkelling stops at reefs full of clownfish and parrotfish. Climb to the Chado Cliff viewpoint on Koh Adang for a view over Lipe. Boats arrive from Pak Bara, from Langkawi in Malaysia and, in high season, from Koh Lanta and Phuket. Many places close in the rainy season from May to October.
