Is Whistler expensive? What things really cost in 2026

Where the money goes
Accommodation is the largest cost: hostels and Creekside start at about C$120–220 a night, Village hotels C$220–420, and ski-in, ski-out hotels C$500–1,200, plus accommodation taxes. In winter, lift tickets are the next big cost — window prices often exceed C$200 a day — along with equipment rental. Restaurant food is expensive, and mountain lodge food even more so. In summer, the gondola ticket, bike rental and spa are the main paid activities, while hiking and the lakes are free.
When it is cheaper
May–June and October–November, the shoulder seasons, are usually the cheapest, though some services close. Christmas, New Year and spring break are the most expensive weeks.
How to spend less
- Buy lift and Peak 2 Peak tickets online in advance; window prices are much higher.
- Stay in a condo with a kitchen and shop at the village or Marketplace grocery stores.
- Bring snacks to the mountain instead of buying lodge food.
- Use the free village shuttle and the Valley Trail rather than taxis or parking.
- Visit in summer or the shoulder seasons for lower rates.
- Take a shared shuttle from Vancouver instead of renting a car if you stay in the village.
