Is Preveza expensive? What things really cost in 2026
Short answer
Preveza is good value by Ionian standards: rooms and meals are cheaper than in nearby Lefkada or Parga, and the meze ouzeri keep dinners affordable. A budget day is about €60 per person, mid-range about €125 and comfort about €245, with a rental car as the main extra cost.

Where the money goes
The car is the cost that surprises people: the sights are spread out, buses are infrequent, and Nikopolis, the Acheron and Zalongo are much easier to reach by road. Rooms are moderate, especially in town. Food is one of Preveza's strengths, with shared meze plates at modest prices. Ticketed sights are inexpensive. The undersea Aktio-Preveza tunnel has a toll of a few euros. Greece also adds a per-room, per-night climate resilience fee, higher from April to October.
When it is cheaper
May, June, September and October are cheaper than July and August, when charter flights and Greek families fill the beach hotels; town rooms stay reasonable for most of the year.
How to spend less
- Stay in Preveza and visit Lefkada and Parga as day trips.
- Share a rental car and plan sights by area to save fuel and tunnel tolls.
- Eat meze in the old market rather than full mains at beach restaurants.
- Use the free, unorganised stretches of Monolithi further north instead of sunbeds.
- Visit the Glyki springs on your own rather than on a tour.
- Book a room in town rather than at the beach resorts.
