Is Mykonos expensive? What things really cost in 2026
Short answer
Yes, Mykonos is the most expensive island in Greece: a budget day in high season costs about €130 per person and a mid-range day about €325, well above Naxos, Paros or Athens. Rooms, beach-club sunbeds, seafood priced by the kilo and cocktails with a view are where the money goes; buses, bakeries and pita gyros are still affordable.

Where the money goes
Accommodation dominates the budget: even rooms near Fabrika on the edge of Chora cost €100-180 a night in summer, and Chora or beach hotels €200-400. Beach clubs at Psarou, Paradise and Super Paradise charge from about €50 to several hundred euros a day for front-row sunbeds, sometimes with a minimum spend. Seafood is priced by weight, and Little Venice bars charge for the view. Greece also adds a per-room climate resilience fee each night.
When it is cheaper
June and September are often 30-50% cheaper than August for rooms, and May and October cheaper still, though from November to April most hotels, bars and beach clubs close.
How to spend less
- Go in June or September instead of July and August.
- Ask the price per kilo and the weight before ordering fish or lobster, and agree the total.
- Use the free public sections of beaches and lay a towel instead of paying for sunbeds.
- Take the bus from Fabrika or the Old Port (€2-2.50) rather than scarce taxis.
- Eat lunch in Ano Mera's square, cheaper than Chora's lanes.
- Insist on a card payment and a receipt (apodeixi); both are your right in Greece.
