Cheap eats
- Taverna meal with wine in Gefyra: €18–30.

Where to sleep for less
Budget travellers stay in Gefyra, the modern village across the causeway, with rooms from about €50–90, or along the coast at Pori.
Getting around cheaply
A car is the most practical way to reach the coast and Elafonisos; share it if you can. KTEL Laconia buses from Athens Kifisos take about 5–6 hours, usually changing in Sparta. Walk between Gefyra and the gate (15–20 minutes) or take the summer shuttle.
