Capri on a budget: how to do it well
Short answer
Capri is hard to do cheaply: the realistic minimum is about €150 per person a day (bed €80, food €40, sights €20, transport €8). A day trip from Naples or Sorrento, or a night in Anacapri, is the budget way to see it.

Getting around cheaply
Buses and the funicular cost about €2.40 a ride; walking is free and often faster at midday. Fast ferries from Naples or Sorrento cost about €20–30 each way.

More ways to save
- Come in May or October for warm weather and lower room rates.
- Take the first ferry of the day to beat the queues and the heat.
- Carry a refillable bottle and buy water at grocers, not cafés.
- Do one paid highlight per day, such as the boat trip or the chairlift.
- Eat dinner in Anacapri or in the lanes towards Villa Jovis rather than the Piazzetta.
- Buy return ferry tickets early on summer weekends.
