Haneda Airport (HND) to Tokyo

From Haneda the fastest cheap options are the Keikyu line to Shinagawa or the Tokyo Monorail to Hamamatsucho, both about 15–20 minutes. Airport Limousine buses go straight to many hotels and big stations if you have heavy luggage.

Tokyo has two big airports. Haneda (HND) is much closer to the centre; many long-haul flights still use Narita (NRT), about 60–70 km away. Check which one is on your ticket.

Best for most people: Train. Keikyu and the Monorail are cheap, frequent and connect at Shinagawa or Hamamatsucho to the JR Yamanote line that circles central Tokyo.

Tips

Common questions

How much is a taxi from Haneda to central Tokyo?

Roughly ¥7,000–12,000 depending on the area, with fixed-fare zones for some central wards and a surcharge of about 20% late at night. Taxis are metered, safe and accept cards. From Narita expect roughly ¥20,000–30,000, so most visitors take the train or bus from there.

Haneda or Narita — which is better?

Haneda is much closer: 15–30 minutes to most central areas versus about an hour from Narita. If you can choose, Haneda saves time and money. Narita is still well connected by the Narita Express and Keisei Skyliner, and low-cost airport buses to Tokyo Station are a good budget option.

Are there trains at night?

No. Trains and the Monorail stop running at around midnight and restart at about 05:00. A few airport buses run late at night or very early, but timetables change, so check before you fly. Otherwise a taxi is the only option after midnight.

Can I pay by card?

Yes, in most cases. Many Keikyu and Tokyo Monorail gates now take contactless bank cards, and the ticket machines accept cards. An IC card such as Suica or PASMO is still the easiest way to pay. Airport bus counters and taxis generally take cards too.
