Best time to visit Vietnam: month by month
Short answer
February to April is good for the whole country. The north is cool from December to February and hot and wet in summer; the centre (Hoi An, Hue) has heavy rain and floods from October to December; the south is hot all year, with a dry season from December to April. Tet in late January or February is the busiest time.

A good time across the country: typical highs of about 26–32°C, rising humidity and increasing rain by May.
Summer (Jun–Aug)
Hot and humid, typically 32–33°C with frequent rain; good on the central coast, wet in the north and south, and typhoons can cancel Ha Long cruises.
Autumn (Sep–Nov)
Rain eases in the north by November (about 27°C); the centre has heavy rain and floods from October to December.
Winter (Dec–Feb)
Cool in the north at about 15–21°C, mild and sometimes rainy in the centre, dry and hot in the south.
