Short answer
June to August is the best balance, with strong water flow, clear views and dry weather around 24–29°C by day and 11–13°C at night. March to May has the fullest falls but heavy spray can hide the view, while September to December brings low water, Devil's Pool and the best rafting, but heat of 33–36°C.

Spring (Sep–Nov)
Hot and dry, about 33°C in September and 36°C in October; the water drops, the Zambian side can be almost dry in October and November, but Devil's Pool and rafting are open. Rains begin in November.
Summer (Dec–Feb)
Rainy season, about 26–31°C with 15–27 rainy days a month; the river rises again from late in the season, landscapes are green and lodges are often cheaper.
Autumn (Mar–May)
Peak flow: the falls are at their fullest and spray soaks the viewpoints; highs of about 27–28°C with rain tapering off to almost none by May.
Winter (Jun–Aug)
Dry and sunny, about 24–29°C by day and cool nights of 11–13°C; strong flow with clearer views and good wildlife viewing in Chobe and Hwange.
