Short answer
Late May, June and September are the best times, with highs of about 21–26°C, a warm sea and few rainy days. July and August are the hottest and busiest months, with highs of about 29°C, almost no rain and Greek families and Mamma Mia! visitors. From November to April many hotels and tavernas close and ferries thin out.
