Best time to visit Sibiu: month by month
Short answer
May to September is the best period, with highs of about 20–27°C, café terraces and festivals, including the International Theatre Festival in June. The Transfăgărășan usually opens around July. Autumn is quieter and colourful, and December is busy for the Christmas market, while winters are cold, often below freezing.

When to avoid
Avoid January and February if you dislike the cold, as lows are around -2°C and the mountain roads are closed. If you want the Transfăgărășan, do not come before July, as the road usually opens only then.
