Short answer

April to early June and September to November are the best times, with highs of about 14-21°C, good hiking and clear skies. Late March and April bring cherry blossom and yellow canola. July and August are warm (24°C) and humid, with 22-23 rainy days and holiday crowds, and typhoons are possible in August and September.

Season by season

Spring (Mar–May)

Highs rise from 10°C in March to 14°C in April and 18°C in May; cherry blossom and canola in late March to April, with about 11-13 rainy days a month.

Summer (Jun–Aug)

Warm and humid, highs of 21-24°C and lows of 14-19°C; the jangma rains in late June-July and 18-23 rainy days a month.

Autumn (Sep–Nov)

September (21°C) can still bring typhoons; October (16°C, about 10 rainy days) is the clearest month, and November (10°C) has silver eulalia grass on the oreum.

Winter (Dec–Feb)

Windy and cold, with average highs of about 1-3°C and lows around -4 to -5°C (usually a little milder right on the coast), snow on Hallasan and tangerine season.
