Where the money goes
Accommodation is the largest cost, from about ₩50,000-90,000 for a guesthouse double in Jeju City to ₩250,000 and more at Jungmun resorts. Most visitors also rent a car (₩40,000-80,000 a day plus insurance and fuel), which saves hours. Food is moderate: market snacks are cheap, but black pork and seafood dinners run ₩20,000-30,000 per person or more. Sights such as Seongsan Ilchulbong, Manjanggul and the waterfalls cost only a few thousand won.
When it is cheaper
Rooms and rental cars are usually cheapest from November to March (except holidays) and on weekdays; prices peak in late July and August and around Chuseok and Seollal, when Korean families fill the island.

- Eat at Dongmun and Seogwipo Maeil Olle markets instead of resort restaurants.
- Book the free Hallasan summit reservation online rather than paying for a guided hike.
