How to get from Takayama to Tokyo
By train, take the JR Limited Express Hida to Toyama and the Hokuriku Shinkansen (about 4 h in total) or the Hida to Nagoya and the Tokaido Shinkansen (about 4 h – 4 h 30). Direct highway buses to Shinjuku take about 5 h 30 and cost about half.
