How to get from Ithaca to Lefkada
In summer, ferries link Frikes on Ithaca with Vasiliki or Nydri on Lefkada, sometimes via Fiskardo on Kefalonia, taking about 1 h–2 h. In winter, connections are few or none, and you may need to travel via Kefalonia or the mainland. There are no flights between the islands.
Best option: Ferry. The seasonal ferry is the only direct route between the islands.

Common questions
Is there a ferry year-round?
No. The Ithaca–Lefkada ferry is seasonal, running mainly from late spring to early autumn. In winter, you may need to go via Kefalonia and the mainland. Check current timetables for the dates you plan to travel. Outside the main season, operators may change days and times at short notice, so confirm locally before you travel.
Where do ferries leave from?
On Ithaca, from Frikes in the north. On Lefkada, from Vasiliki in the south or Nydri on the east coast, depending on the route. Some sailings stop at Fiskardo on Kefalonia. Make sure you know which port your ferry uses.
Can I take my car?
Yes, on the car ferries that run this route. Car space is limited in summer, so book ahead. Many visitors leave the car and rent locally on each island instead. Arrive early at the port, as loading on small ferries can be slow and ramps are short.
Can I do it as a day trip?
Yes, in summer. Excursion boats from Lefkada, especially from Nydri, include Ithaca and sometimes Kefalonia. They are a good option for a short visit without arranging separate ferry tickets. These boats typically stop for a few hours at Ithaca villages such as Kioni or Frikes before returning in the late afternoon.
