How to get from Delhi to Jaipur
Express trains such as the Shatabdi and the Vande Bharat cover Delhi to Jaipur in about 4 to 4 h 30 for roughly ₹700–2,000. Driving takes about 4 to 5 hours on NH48, and flights take about 1 hour in the air but more once airport time is added.
Best option: Train. A reserved seat on a fast day train is comfortable, predictable and avoids Delhi traffic.

Tips
- Book train seats on IRCTC as soon as your dates are fixed; Chair Car (CC) and Executive Chair Car (EC) sell out on popular days.
- If hiring a car, agree whether tolls and parking are included before you set off.
- Jaipur Junction is about 15–20 minutes from the old city by auto-rickshaw or app taxi.
- Allow for winter fog (December–January), which can delay trains and flights in the morning.
Common questions
Which is the fastest way from Delhi to Jaipur?
Door to door, a fast day train or a car is usually quickest, at about 4 to 5 hours. Flights take about an hour in the air, but with the trip to Delhi airport, check-in and the ride into Jaipur the total is often 3–4 hours or more. The Shatabdi and Vande Bharat trains are the most comfortable reliable choice.
Do I need to book trains in advance?
Yes. Reserved trains between Delhi and Jaipur are popular, and Chair Car seats on the fastest services can sell out days or weeks ahead around weekends and festivals. Book on the IRCTC website or app, or through an agent. Tatkal quotas open the day before travel at a higher fare if you are late.
Is it safe to take an overnight bus?
Overnight AC sleeper buses are widely used and generally fine, though road travel in India is slower and less predictable than train travel. Choose an established operator, check the boarding point carefully, and keep valuables with you. For most visitors a daytime train is more comfortable and arrives at a central station.
Can I hire a car with a driver from Delhi to Jaipur?
Yes, this is very common. One-way hire with a driver typically costs about ₹4,000–6,000, more for larger cars or if a return trip is charged. Confirm whether tolls, parking and the driver’s allowance are included. Many travellers combine Delhi, Agra and Jaipur (the Golden Triangle) with the same driver over several days.
