Why visit Zion National Park?

Zion National Park in southern Utah is a landscape of towering red and cream sandstone cliffs, narrow slot canyons and the Virgin River. It is Utah's first national park and one of the most visited in the United States.

The Zion Canyon Scenic Drive is served by a free shuttle bus for most of the year, stopping at trailheads along the canyon floor. Hike The Narrows, wading upstream through the river between walls hundreds of metres high, or walk the easier Riverside Walk and Emerald Pools trails. Angels Landing is a famous, exposed climb with chains along a narrow ridge; a permit is required. The Canyon Overlook Trail on the east side gives a great view with less effort. The town of Springdale, at the park entrance, has hotels, restaurants and outfitters. Summers are very hot, and flash floods can close The Narrows, so check conditions. Spring and autumn are the most pleasant seasons.
