Why visit Bohol?

Bohol is an island province in the Central Visayas of the Philippines, a short ferry ride from Cebu or reached by air at Panglao. It combines unusual landscapes and wildlife with the beaches of Panglao island and centuries-old Spanish stone churches.

The Chocolate Hills, more than 1,200 grassy cone-shaped hills that turn brown in the dry season, are Bohol's most famous sight, best seen from the viewing deck at Carmen. At the Philippine Tarsier Sanctuary in Corella you can see the tiny tarsier, one of the world's smallest primates, in its forest habitat. Take a lunch cruise on the Loboc River, and visit the Baclayon and Loboc churches, among the oldest in the country. Alona Beach on Panglao is the main beach area, with dive schools and seafood restaurants, and boat trips go to Balicasag Island for snorkelling with turtles and to Virgin Island's sandbar. The Blood Compact Shrine in Tagbilaran marks a 1565 treaty of friendship. Try calamay and fresh seafood.
