Is Ronda expensive? What things really cost in 2026
Short answer
Ronda is moderately priced for Spain: cheaper than Seville, Málaga or the Costa del Sol resorts, especially for food. Expect about €80 a day per person on a tight budget, about €160 mid-range and €300 or more for comfort. Rooms near the gorge, a rental car for the white villages and winery visits take most of the money; tapas are cheap.

Where the money goes
Rooms take the largest share: guesthouses in El Mercadillo near the stations are about €60–100 a night for a double, hotels near Plaza de España or in La Ciudad €100–180, and cliff-edge hotels or country estates €200–400. Transport is the next cost if you want to see the white villages, because buses to Setenil, Zahara and Grazalema are rare, so most people rent a car or take a tour. Sights are moderately priced, usually €4–10 each, and wine tastings €20–35. Food is good value: tapas cost €2.50–4 and a full dinner about €25–35 per person.
When it is cheaper
Weekdays from November to February (except holidays) are usually the cheapest, and July–August can also be cheaper for rooms because of the heat. Prices rise sharply during the Feria de Pedro Romero in early September and around Semana Santa.
How to spend less
- Stay overnight rather than day-tripping; rooms in El Mercadillo are good value and you see the gorge after the coaches leave.
- Eat tapas at the bar rather than full restaurant meals; three or four tapas make a dinner.
- Rent a car for just one day to cover Setenil, Zahara and Grazalema together, or share a tour.
- See the Puente Nuevo from below on the free path from Plaza de María Auxiliadora instead of paying for viewpoints.
- Avoid the Feria de Pedro Romero in early September unless you are coming for it, as prices rise.
- Use the underground car parks near Plaza del Socorro and avoid driving into the narrow old town.
