Is Krabi expensive? What things really cost in 2026
Short answer
Krabi is cheap by European standards but mid-priced for Thailand: a budget day is about 1,400 baht per person (roughly €37) and a mid-range day about 4,000 baht. Street food and transport are inexpensive; island tours, national park fees, Railay's island prices and beachfront resorts are where the money goes.

Where the money goes
Sights and tickets are the biggest daily cost, because most days involve a boat: island tours, national park fees for foreigners (paid in cash, usually not included) and climbing courses. Rooms range from about 600–1,200 baht in Ao Nang's back streets or Krabi Town to 6,000–20,000 baht at the beach resorts. Food is cheap at markets and curry shops, while seafood sold by weight and Railay's restaurants cost more.
When it is cheaper
From May to October, the monsoon months, many resorts lower prices, often substantially, though some island tours stop or run in rough seas. December to February is the most expensive period, especially around Christmas and New Year.
How to spend less
- Eat in Krabi Town's curry shops and markets, where food is cheaper and more authentic than in Ao Nang.
- Carry cash for national park fees, which are rarely included in tour prices.
- Use songthaews instead of taxis between Ao Nang and Krabi Town.
- Choose a longtail 4 Islands tour over a speedboat if you are not in a hurry.
- Ask the price per kilo and the weight before ordering seafood.
- Stay in Krabi Town or Ao Nang's back streets rather than on the beachfront.
