Is Galaxidi expensive? What things really cost in 2026
Short answer
Galaxidi is moderately priced for Greece: cheaper than the popular islands, though summer weekends and Clean Monday push room rates up. Expect about €65 a day per person on a tight budget, about €140 mid-range and €250 or more for comfort. Rooms and the car for Delphi take most of the money; harbour tavernas are fair value.

Where the money goes
Accommodation is the main cost: family-run rooms in the upper town are about €50–80 a night for a double, small hotels in restored captains' houses near the harbour €90–150, and boutique hotels with sea views €150–280. Transport comes second, because Delphi, Amfissa and Hosios Loukas are easiest by car and local buses are infrequent. Food is reasonable, at about €18–30 per person for a taverna meal, but fresh fish is sold by the kilo and can make a dinner much more expensive. Entry to Delphi is the biggest ticket, at about €20 in high season.
When it is cheaper
Weekdays from autumn to spring are the cheapest. Prices are highest on summer weekends and around Clean Monday, when the town is full for the flour war; book early or avoid those dates if you are watching costs.
How to spend less
- Stay in the upper town rather than on the harbour; it is only 5–10 minutes' walk and usually cheaper.
- Use Galaxidi as your base for Delphi instead of paying for a night in Delphi village.
- Visit on weekdays, as Athenians fill the town on summer and holiday weekends.
- Ask the price per kilo before ordering fresh fish, or choose octopus, anchovies or fish soup instead.
- Buy Amfissa olives and local olive oil directly in Amfissa or at shops in town, where they are good value.
- Swim from the free rocks and coves around Hirolakas rather than paying for sunbeds elsewhere.
