Is Delphi expensive? What things really cost in 2026
Short answer
Delphi is moderately priced for Greece: a budget day is about €75 per person and a mid-range day about €145. It is cheaper than Athens for rooms and food; the main fixed costs are the site and museum ticket (about €20) and getting there, while nearby Arachova is much pricier in the ski season.

Where the money goes
Rooms in Delphi village are good value at about €50–80 a double, or €80–140 with a valley view; Galaxidi is similar, while Arachova's hotels are the expensive option, especially on winter weekends. Food in the tavernas along Apollonos Street is reasonably priced. The site and museum ticket is the main sightseeing cost, and transport depends on whether you use buses or hire a car for Arachova, Hosios Loukas and Galaxidi.
When it is cheaper
Delphi is cheapest in winter outside Arachova's ski weekends, and from late October to March rooms in the village often cost roughly 20–30% less than in spring and summer. Arachova is the reverse: cheaper and quieter in summer.
How to spend less
- Stay overnight in Delphi village instead of joining a long coach day trip from Athens.
- Take the KTEL bus from Athens Liosion station rather than a private tour.
- Check the free-entry days at Greek archaeological sites before you go.
- Visit Arachova in summer or midweek, when prices are far lower than on winter weekends.
- Walk the old path down through the olive groves to Chrisso instead of driving.
- Share a rental car for Hosios Loukas and Galaxidi, which buses serve poorly.
