Budget travellers stay in hostels and cheaper hotels around Haymarket, Central Station and Surry Hills; hotel doubles cost about A$150-230, and hostel dorm beds much less. Bondi and Manly also have hostels.

Getting around cheaply

Tap a contactless card or Opal card on all transport; fares are capped daily and weekly. Ferries from Circular Quay double as harbour cruises. From the airport, the train takes about 15 minutes but adds a station access fee; buses are cheaper.
