The S7 S-Bahn to Wien Mitte is the cheapest rail option at a few euros, while the City Airport Train (CAT) does the same trip non-stop in about 16 minutes for a higher fare. ÖBB Railjet trains also run direct to Wien Hauptbahnhof.

How much is a taxi from Vienna Airport to the city centre?

Expect about €40–55 to the inner districts. Fixed-price airport taxi or car services sold at desks in the arrivals hall, or booked online, are often cheaper than a metered taxi from the rank. Uber and Bolt also operate. The ride takes about 20–30 minutes outside rush hour.

Is the CAT worth it compared with the S7?

The CAT is non-stop and takes about 16 minutes, while the S7 takes about 25 minutes with a few stops, to the same Wien Mitte station. The S7 costs about €4–5 with the airport section, against about €13–15 for the CAT. For most travellers the S7 is the better value.

Do trains run from Vienna Airport at night?

Trains run roughly from 05:00 until around midnight; check last departures on the ÖBB or CAT timetable. After that, Vienna Airport Lines night buses run on some routes, and taxis are available 24 hours from the rank outside Arrivals. Plan ahead if your flight lands close to midnight.

Can I pay by card at Vienna Airport?

Yes. Ticket machines for the S7, Railjet and CAT accept bank cards, and tickets can also be bought in the Wiener Linien, ÖBB or CAT apps. Most taxis and the fixed-price airport services accept cards, but confirm with the driver before setting off.
