Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport (TPE) to Taipei

The Taoyuan Airport MRT express train reaches Taipei Main Station in about 35–40 minutes and is the easiest way in. Airport buses are slightly cheaper and run through the night.

How much is a taxi from Taoyuan Airport to Taipei?

A metered taxi from Taoyuan Airport to central Taipei usually costs about NT$1,000 to NT$1,300, depending on traffic and your exact destination. The fare is for the car, so it can be reasonable for a group. Take a taxi from the official rank outside Arrivals and show the driver your hotel address in Chinese.

Is there a train at night?

The Taoyuan Airport MRT runs from about 06:00 until about 23:30, so it does not operate overnight. If you land late, the Kuo-Kuang 1819 bus to Taipei Main Station runs 24 hours a day, though less frequently at night. Taxis are also available around the clock.

How long does it take to get to Taipei Main Station?

The express train on the Taoyuan Airport MRT takes about 35 to 40 minutes from Terminal 1 or 2 to Taipei Main Station. The commuter train on the same line is slower because it stops at every station. Airport buses take about 50 to 70 minutes and a taxi about 40 to 60 minutes.

Can I pay by card?

Yes. The Airport MRT accepts EasyCard and contactless bank cards at the gates, and tokens can be bought by card or cash at machines. Airport buses accept EasyCard or cash. Many Taipei taxis accept EasyCard or cards, but not all, so keep some cash in New Taiwan dollars.
