Tips

Common questions

How much is a taxi from Changi Airport to the city?

Expect about S$25–40 on the meter to central areas such as Marina Bay or Orchard, plus an airport surcharge of roughly S$6–8 depending on the time. Road toll charges may be added. Taxis are metered, regulated and widely accept cards. Queue at the official taxi stand at Arrivals.

Can I pay for the MRT with a bank card?

Yes. Singapore's MRT and buses accept contactless Visa and Mastercard cards and mobile wallets at the gates, so you do not need to buy a separate ticket or travel card. Use the same card every trip; a small foreign transaction fee from your bank may apply.

Does the MRT run all night from Changi?

No. Trains from Changi Airport station run roughly from 05:30 until about 23:15. If you land late, a taxi or ride-hailing car is the practical choice. Check last train times on the station display, as the final connection at Tanah Merah may leave earlier.

How long does it take from Changi to Marina Bay?

About 20–30 minutes by taxi or Grab outside peak traffic, and around 40 minutes by MRT including the change at Tanah Merah. Bus 36 can take more than an hour. Immigration at Changi is usually quick, so you can often be in the city within an hour of landing.
