Best time to visit Thailand: month by month
Short answer
November to February is the best time for most of Thailand, with highs of 31-32°C and only 3-8 rainy days a month. March to May is the hottest period, often above 35°C. From about June to October the monsoon brings 22-29 rainy days a month, mostly afternoon storms, with the heaviest rain on the Andaman coast; the Gulf islands are wettest from about October to December.

Spring (Mar-May)
Very hot, 33°C on average and often hotter, with rain building from 9 to 21 rainy days. Songkran water festival in mid-April.
Summer (Jun-Aug)
Monsoon season, 32-33°C with 23-29 rainy days, mostly afternoon downpours. Lower prices; the Gulf islands are often drier.
Autumn (Sep-Nov)
September is very wet (28 rainy days); rain eases to about 15 days in November. Loi Krathong in November.
Winter (Dec-Feb)
Dry and slightly cooler, 31-32°C by day and 21-23°C at night, with 3-8 rainy days. Peak season.

When to avoid
April is extremely hot, though Songkran is great fun. September is the wettest month on the Andaman coast, when some boat trips are cancelled.
