Short answer

May, June and September are the best months, with average highs of about 19–25°C and long days. July and August are the warmest (about 24–26°C) but the most crowded and expensive. January and February are cold (highs of about 4–6°C, lows near −1 to −2°C) but cheapest and quietest.

Spring (Mar–May)

March starts cool at about 10°C, April reaches about 12°C and May about 19°C, with blossom on Petřín. Crowds grow from Easter.

Summer (Jun–Aug)

Highs of about 24–26°C and lows of 14–15°C, with 11–14 rainy days a month, often short thunderstorms. Beer gardens are open but the centre is very busy.

Autumn (Sep–Nov)

September is pleasant at about 21°C, October about 17°C with autumn colours; November drops to about 8°C and turns grey.

Winter (Dec–Feb)

Highs of about 4–6°C and lows around −1 to −2°C, with about 13–14 rainy or snowy days in December and January. The Christmas markets make December busy; January and February are quiet.

July and August if you dislike crowds and high hotel prices, as the Charles Bridge and the Castle are packed all day. New Year's Eve is very busy and noisy, with fireworks and inflated prices.
