Events worth planning around
- Greek Orthodox Easter, March-April, celebrated in the villages
- 15 August (Dormition of the Virgin) festivals (panigyria) across Pelion
- Chestnut and apple harvest, October
- Carnival weekends (Apokries), February-March
- Skiing at the small Agriolefkes centre, roughly January to March (snow permitting)
When to avoid
Around 15 August the beaches and villages are very busy and rooms are scarce. In winter, mountain roads can be icy, and some east-coast tavernas and hotels close.
