March to May and October to November are the best times, with highs of about 19–29°C. May is the finest month for the patios and festivals, but also the busiest and most expensive. July and August average 38–39°C and are among the hottest in Spain.

Spring (Mar–May)
Highs of about 20°C in March, 24°C in April and 29°C in May, with rain on 5–9 days a month. May brings the Cruces de Mayo, the Fiesta de los Patios and the Feria.
Summer (Jun–Aug)
Very hot: about 33°C in June and 38–39°C in July and August, with lows of about 22°C and no rain. Sightsee early and late.
Autumn (Sep–Nov)
Still hot in September (about 31°C), pleasant in October (28°C) and mild in November (19°C), with rain on 5–7 days a month.

Mild days of about 14–18°C and cool nights of 4–7°C. The quietest season, good for the monuments without queues.

When to avoid
July and August are extremely hot and many locals leave the city. If you go in May, book accommodation well ahead, as prices peak and the best patio hotels fill early.
