Generally no. Most rail journeys need at least one change and take around 5–6 hours, longer than the coach. Some seasons have had better connections, so check current timetables with České dráhy and PKP Intercity. For most travellers, a direct coach is the more practical choice.
What is the fastest way?
By public transport, a direct coach at about 4½–5 hours. By car, about 3½–4 hours via Hradec Králové and the Polish border. There are no practical direct flights between Prague and Wrocław. If you have the choice, travel in the morning to avoid traffic on the Czech D11 motorway.
What is the cheapest way?
Coaches booked a week or more ahead are usually cheapest, often around €15–20. Train fares can be similar but take longer with changes. Driving is reasonable for a group, though you need a Czech motorway vignette and should budget for parking in Wrocław.
Do I need to book ahead?
Coach fares rise as departure approaches, and Friday and Sunday services fill up, so booking a few days ahead is sensible. Train tickets can usually be bought on the day, but advance international fares are cheaper. Outside holidays you will normally find a seat even at short notice.
