Common questions
How do I get from Pelion to Skiathos?
Take a ferry or fast boat from Volos, the main port below Mount Pelion. Fast boats take about 1 h 30 and conventional ferries about 2 h 30. In summer some small boats cross from south Pelion villages in about an hour, but they change yearly, so ask locally.
Can I take my car to Skiathos?
Yes, on the conventional ferries from Volos, but vehicle space is limited in summer and fares add up. Skiathos is small, with a bus along the south coast and plenty of taxis, scooters and rental cars, so most visitors leave the car on the mainland.
Can I do a day trip from Pelion to Skiathos?
Yes, in summer. Take a morning fast boat from Volos, spend the day on the beaches or in Skiathos town, and return in the evening. Check the last boat back and book ahead in August. Outside summer, departures are fewer and a day trip may not work.
Are there flights from Pelion to Skiathos?
No. Skiathos has an airport, but it has no flights from Volos or anywhere in the Pelion area. Domestic and charter flights to Skiathos come mainly from Athens and other European cities. From Pelion, the ferry from Volos is the only practical way.
